“All too often art graduates leave the south west for London or Bristol. Part of what The Bread and Roses is aiming to do is to encourage the growth of arts and culture in the area by providing a platform exhibitions and art projects.” Rachael Gomery, Visual Arts Coordinator.

The Visual arts program at Bread and Roses offers a space for art, which is far from the ‘white cube’. With a focus on collaboration and community engagement that aims to bridge the gap between artist and wider society, creating the opportunity to forge new interdisciplinary relationships in a dynamic environment. 2013 saw Jools Mercer stitching the patrons of the pub and Ebrington street for months on end as guest Artist In Residence and Visual Arts Coordinator Rachael Gomery is keen to showcase even more work over 2014/15 that challenges what art is and how it should be viewed..
